Aliyah...Going Up
Psalm 24 The
Song of Ascension
|
|
24:1 A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. 24:2 For He hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. 24:3 Who shall ascend into the mountain of the Lord*? and who shall stand in His holy place? 24:4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not taken My name in vain, and hath not sworn deceitfully. 24:5 He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 24:6 Such is the generation of them that seek after Him, that seek Thy face, even Jacob. Selah 24:7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates, and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; that the King of glory may come in. 24:8 'Who is the King of glory?' 'The the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.' 24:9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates, yea, lift them up, ye everlasting doors; that the King of glory may come in. 24:10 'Who then is the King of glory?' 'The the Lord of hosts; He is the King of glory.' Selah.
24:3 Who shall ascend into the mountain of the L-rd*?
Strong's Concordance #5927
= Hebrew word "alah" which means "to ascend"
“Who shall ascend into the Hill of the L-rd?” Mount Zion is in Jerusalem, and since Mount Zion is the highest place that you can go spiritually, whenever you go to Jerusalem, you always "go up" to Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:2-3, Luke 2:41-42, 19:28, John 2:13, 5:1, Acts 25:1)
Jews who immigrate to Israel from any other country in the world are said to be making "aliyah" to Israel. They are "ascending."*
*Aliyah is the word that describes the return of the Jewish People from the exile in the Diaspora (the settling of scattered colonies of Jews outside Palestine after the Babylonian exile) back to the Land of Israel. The word Aliyah is derived from the verb "laalot" which means "to go up", or "to ascend" in a positive spiritual sense. A person who makes Aliyah is called an Oleh, meaning "one who goes up." Some people are making Aliyah to Jerusalem today.
Strongs Concordance #5944 = Hebrew word "aliyah" from #5927 which means "something lofty a stairway, going up, ascend
If you are a blood bought child of G-d your life is to be an Aliyah! Going UP!
The direction of your life is never to be aimed
North, South, East, or West. or Fame, Fortune, Power or Success.
It is ALIYAH! GOING UP!
The spiritual understanding of "aliyah" is that you are ascending to a higher place in G-d -- a deeper knowledge and revelation of G-d -- than where you were previously. You are growing in the knowledge of G-d and therefore G-d is taking you into a deeper understanding of knowing Him.
But going up requires more effort and determination. It’s easier tear down than to build up! Don’t compromise or give in to what is lower. Dare to go for higher ground and you will be amazed at what happens in your life.
We are on a spiritual journey departing from the ways of the world and entering into the ways of G-d growing spiritually step by step desiring to finish the course which G-d has laid before us and to ascend to the city of G-d, Mount Zion (Isaiah 28:9-10, I John 2:12-14).
"Lift up your heads O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this
King of glory, The Lord of Host, He is the King of Glory.
Selah."
Every day you
are given a choice!
Choose
to GO UP!
Aliyah!
