GOD’S FRIEND

“And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.”
James 2:23

I have a lot of wonderful friends and several people have told me that I am a good friend to them.  While I desire to be a good friend to them, I want with all my heart to be a good friend to God.

The first thing we need to do to be called a friend of God is to believe Him.  A friend is someone who is loyal, trustworthy, compassionate, caring, understanding, and stays with us even when we make mistakes.  God does all of these things for us.  He has proven to us that He is our Friend.  If we don’t employ all of these character traits toward God, then we are not His Friend.  Are you a friend to God?  If so, what are you doing to prove it?

If I have hurt a friend, then I don’t want to look that person in the eyes.  If God was standing in front of you, could you look Him in the eyes?  Friendship is like a marriage in the sense that it must be watered on a daily basis.  Most married people hug each other every day if they are not having problems.

We must spend time with Him daily.  We need to read His Word, and talk to Him every day, not just on Sunday.  Are you hugging God every day, or is there a problem with your relationship with God?  If so, then I urge you to get your heart right with Him.
