THE CATS

12/03  L-R  Bug and Reeboks
Bug has black around his eyelids so it looks like his eyes are really big and pretty.  His lower lip is black and looks like he has lipstick on it. My son found him in a park when he was real tiny. Reeboks has white feet which look like he's wearing Reeboks tennis shoes.  His chin is white too which gives him a cute look.  A friend of ours found him as a kitten wandering down a busy street.

This was right after my son found Bug and brought him home.  It was a day before Reeboks got very sick.

Bug likes to hide under and in things.  He thinks he is a Christmas present.

THE DOGS

2001  L-R  Moo Moo, Me, Bubba
When we adopted Moo Moo we were told he is a St. Bernard/Lab mix. Since then I found a picture of a dog that looked just like him.  That dog was a Rafeiro do Alentejo, a Portuguese sheepdog/watchdog. He has thick, soft fur and is a real goofball.  We got him from the pet adoption place.

Bubba was a Rottweiler/Lab mix.  He was wandering the neighborhood and we took him in.  He must have been abused because he was afraid of hoses, brooms, popping noises, and would duck his head when we would reach out to pet him.  How sad.  (Now we don't have Bubba any more.  He got very sick.)

2005  Moo Moo
I was going through my pictures looking for one of Moo standing up and looking straight at the camera.  I didn't have any with him looking at the camera, but here is one of him standing up.  I wanted you to see his pretty tail.  Anyway, don't watch him for long because I think he's looking for a place to go potty!

4/06  Rusty, Babe, and Moo Moo
Here they are!
Rusty's on the left.  He is my son, Jeremy's, dog.  We think he's part Rhodesian Ridgeback (Rusty, not Jeremy).
Babe is in the middle.  She's a Pit Bull Terrier. She belongs to my son, Casey.
Moo Moo is on the right.
We didn't plan it, but they are all the same colors.  Does that make them decorator dogs?

ELMO, THE IGUANA

Elmo in the tub Elmo giving the evil eye
He was not happy with me.  I decided to scrub his cage out and so I put him in the tub.  He was particularly grouchy.  Maybe it was because he is shedding his skin again.  Anyway, he was doing barrel rolls to try to escape from the leash (a cat harness).  Once I got him in the tub he was OK until the water cooled off.  They he started thrashing around.  I had to take him out, refill the tub, put him back in, and finish the cage.

2/04 Elmo's cage
The right picture is looking toward the cage with the right hand door open.  There is a top shelf and boards that criss cross the inside on the bottom for climbing.  That is his food bowl in the top right.

The middle picture is looking through the glass of the same door that is now closed toward the middle of the cage.  The basket under the top shelf holds the heat lamps.  There is usually a large piece of a branch of a tree on the top shelf for him to climb on.

The left picture is a close up looking toward the middle from the same door.  How do you like my art work?  Pretty nifty for a person whose drawing talent never makes it from her head to her hands.  Must be a hole in the elbows.

There is a bulletin board on the front of the cage.

The cage is 8' long, 2' deep, and 6' tall.  It takes up one entire wall in my son's room.  The moral of the story is, don't keep that tiny little iguana if you aren't ready to make a major commitment!

2/04 Here's Elmo enjoying his cage
Actually, he's looking through his window and out the bedroom window.  He's probably regretting that day, many years ago, that he slowed down long enough to get caught.

That flap under his chin is called a dewlap.  He puts that down and raises his body up and tries to look real big when he is scared.  He doesn't want you to eat him.

I'm not sure if he appreciates all the painting I did on the inside of the cage.  He's not talking.

2001  Here's Elmo in his old cage
He was about half this size when Casey found him.  This old cage was 18" deep, 5' tall, and about 4' wide.

A little bit about iguanas:

They are vegetarians.  They live to be about 25 years old.  Elmo can grow to be three times as big as he is now.  They have tiny little teeth and usually don't bite.  They have long, sharp claws that are used for climbing trees and such.  His toes are very long, especially the back ones.  He uses his tail to try to whip you if he is mad.

He's really very pretty.  A lot of his scales are shiny and pretty shades of green.

There, did you learn something new?
